Children love pets. As soon as they get a little older they start to ask their parents for a little furry companion. Given the choice what the vast majority of kids really want is a dog. And it’s not hard to understand why. They’re fun, loving and loyal. They make a walk more fun and can be taught basic commands like sit and stay. They can be mischievous too, but it’s hard to stay mad at them for long.

They give so much back, it’s only right that new owners take good care of them. This is a responsibility that shouldn’t be taken lightly though. These animals need plenty of exercise, love and attention. They can easily live for ten or fifteen years. It’s a big commitment, but one that most people enjoy. Soon enough they feel like one of the family.

Every dog, no matter how big or small needs regular exercise. They’ll go for miles each day. Some are natural retrievers and love to chase and bring a ball. They need somewhere to sleep and plenty of toys too. Most dogs love to play.

Then there’s diet to think about. There are so many different breeds, which means there’s no one size fits all approach to nutrition. Owners also need to consider how diet needs to change at different life stages. Puppies are growing fast while senior dogs are slowing down a little. Food formulated for each stage in life helps to keep them happy and healthy. Get their diet right and everything else just seems to fall into place.
